Triage your inbox

Sort, filter, and prioritize the work waiting for your review. The inbox shows what your App has prepared and which items need a human eye first.

Audience: analysts

Where the inbox lives

Open an App and click the Work items tab. The page splits into two columns: a rail on the left with every work item the App has produced, and a detail pane on the right where you read what was done.

Work items arrive in one of two ways:

  • A trigger fires (an inbound email, a Slack message, a file dropped into a folder) and the App creates a work item automatically.
  • You submit one by hand from the composer at the top of the page.

Read the numbers at the top

Above the rail sits a row of four tiles: Running, Queued, Failed, and Total. Click any tile to filter the rail to just that group. Click Total to clear the filter. Use this to pivot fast: if the Failed tile shows a number above zero, click it and start there.

Sort and filter the rail

Under the tiles is a search box and a row of status pills.

  • Search. Type into the Search by title, id, or step box. The search matches across the work item's title, its identifier, its current step (label or key), and how it was created.
  • Status pills. Toggle Running, Queued, Failed, or Succeeded to narrow the rail. Pills combine: turn on Failed and Queued together to see only the items that need attention.
  • Clear. Tap the tile or pill again to turn it off.

Search and status pills work together. Filter to Failed, then type a customer name to find the one that needs you most.

Understand the section labels

The rail groups items into four sections in this order:

  • Running. Work in progress right now.
  • Queued. The work item is waiting its turn.
  • Needs review. The latest run failed. These usually want your attention first.
  • Recent. Items that finished (succeeded or cancelled).

Each section can be collapsed by clicking its header. The section that contains the item you have selected stays open automatically.

Pick what to work on next

Click a row to open it in the detail pane on the right. Each row shows you, at a glance:

  • The work item title (or Untitled work item if no title was given).
  • A status badge: Queued, Running, Succeeded, Failed, or Cancelled.
  • The current step (if the run is in progress) and the last updated time.
  • How it arrived (for example, via an email trigger or a Slack channel).

A good rule of thumb: start with Needs review, then move to anything Running that has been going for a while, then Recent items the team needs you to confirm.

Submit a work item yourself

The composer at the top of the page lets you create a work item by hand. Fill in the title, add any required fields the App expects, attach files if needed, and click Submit work item. If the App's Runbook has not been published yet, the composer is disabled and points you to open the Runbook.

The composer only accepts manual submissions when the App has a published Runbook. Drafts are not enough. See the Runbook section in the App if Submit is greyed out.

What is not yet here

Reassigning to a teammate and snoozing are not part of the inbox today. To share an item with someone, copy the page URL and send it. You stay in control of every work item until you mark it done.
