Chat with a project

Chat with a project

The Conversations tab is where you talk to a Project, App, or Data Collection. Type a question, attach a file, point at something the Project already knows, and watch it work. You stay in control: you can interrupt at any time and your corrections stick.

Audience: analysts

Start or resume a conversation

Open the Project and click the Conversations tab. The composer sits at the bottom.

  • Start a new thread: type your question and press Enter to send. Use Shift+Enter for a new line.
  • Resume a thread: click any thread in the rail on the left. Your draft does not get lost when you switch.

Bring in references with @

Press @ in the composer to open the reference picker. The picker groups everything the Project knows about:

  • Files. Anything in the Project's files. Start typing to search, or type a path with slashes to browse a folder.
  • Skills. Reusable capabilities the Project can call by name.
  • Memories. Facts and rules the Project has learned.
  • Integrations. Connections like SharePoint, Slack, or Gmail. If an integration needs setup, the picker disables it and shows why.
  • MCP. Mounted Model Context Protocol servers.
  • Data Collections. Collections attached to this Project.

Use arrow keys to choose, Enter to insert. Each reference becomes a chip in your message. Remove a chip with backspace or by clicking its close button.

You can reference your own integrations from Home. If you have personally connected Gmail or Slack, the Home composer's reference picker offers them too. See Home and ad hoc work.

Attach files

Drag a file into the composer or click the attach control. Documents, spreadsheets, PDFs, images: anything your Project can read becomes part of the message.

Watch the activity stream

While your Project works, the activity stream shows each step as a card: which tool ran, which file got read, which step finished. When a result is ready (a table, a draft, a file), it appears inline alongside the reply.

If you scroll up while a run is still going, a Jump to latest pill appears. Click it to snap back to the bottom. It hides itself once you are close enough to the latest message.

Cancel a run

If the conversation is going the wrong direction, click cancel. The current turn stops, the conversation stays, and you can send a fresh message. Your Project keeps the prior turns as context, so you do not need to repeat what you already told it.

Reconnect after a network drop

A small connection indicator near the composer shows the live status. In normal use it stays out of the way. If the network drops, the indicator turns; reconnect and the conversation picks up.
