Version 3.0
Create a Data Collection

Create a Data Collection

A Data Collection wraps one or more data sources IT has connected and makes them queryable by other projects. Build a collection, attach the right data sources, and the rest of the workspace gets grounded answers.

Audience: builders

Where you start

Data Collections live at /data-collections in the platform. The list page shows what your workspace already owns.

Data source versus Data Collection. IT connects a data source once for the workspace (Snowflake, Postgres, BigQuery, and others). You build a Data Collection on top of one or more of those sources. The collection is what projects query.

Click the Data Collection button

The button is the round + Data Collection button at the top of the Data Collections list. It opens the create dialog.

Fill in name and description

The name becomes the workspace label and the URL slug. Placeholder examples show what fits ("Revenue analytics collection"). Naming after the data ("Vendor master data", "GL transactions") lands better than naming after the source.

Pick the appearance

Data Collections default to a green color token and a boxes icon. Customize if you want.

Submit

The submit button reads "Create Data Collection". On success the dialog closes and you land directly on the Setup tab, ready to attach data sources.

What to do next. In Setup, add a data source. Then scope what is included and build the catalog.
